When to use Carriers, Coverages, or Rules

            Copied!

Quandri’s Carrier and Coverage Configurations and Rules allow you to get more specific and accurate renewal reviews. In this article, we break down when to use each of these features. All changes are brokerage-specific and take effect on the next run.

            Quick summary:

            • Carriers = Configure/map carrier codes to the correct Quandri-supported carrier.
            • Coverages = Update coverage recognition — map Epic coverage codes → Quandri coverage names, and define what’s included inside packages/bundles.
            • Rules = Create and edit logic to exclude specific coverages from renewal reports.
              When to use each configuration

            Carriers
            Use when:
You need to add agency-specific carrier codes, or remove/modify default carrier code mappings.
Carrier Codes change and you need to edit or add them.
Quandri starts supporting a new carrier and you need to add the carrier code(s) to match.

            Coverages
            Use when:
A coverage code in Epic isn’t being recognized or is mapped incorrectly.
Eg. “Water Backup is missing” in the Quandri report, when it’s actually present.
A package, endorsement, or bundle should imply other coverages (e.g., Water Protection includes sewer backup, overland water, service line).
You need to add a new coverage code that isn’t in Quandri’s list so the system will process it.

            Rules
            Use when:
You want to exclude a coverage from appearing on reports (e.g., carrier doesn’t offer it or it should be omitted for certain policy types).
You need conditional exclusions by carrier, category (HAB/Auto), or policy type.
You want to toggle an exclusion on/off without deleting it.

            Decision flow

            • Is this about the carrier code itself — a code that identifies which carrier wrote the policy? → Carriers
            • Is this about a coverage code or whether a coverage should be recognized/ included in a package or bundle? → Coverages
            • Do you want to stop a coverage from being shown on reports (exclude it), or apply an exclusion by carrier/policy type? → Rules

            Examples

            • “One of the codes has changed for Carrier ABC.” → Carriers — map the correct carrier code to Carrier ABC.
            • “Quandri says ‘Sewer Backup Missing’ even though Water Protection includes it.” → Coverages — edit Water Protection to include sewer backup (and any other implied coverages).
            • “SGI shows ‘Personal Property Claims Protector’ as missing, but SGI doesn’t offer it.” → Rules — add an exclusion rule for SGI (HAB/Home) to exclude that coverage so it no longer appears as missing.
